Hagi Yaki Ikebana Vase
Ikebana is a visual art that uses plant materials and supporting vessels that come in a wide variety of forms. Depending on the materials, artistic judgment is required to readjust the established forms. The subject and the vessel both contribute equally to its final outcome.
Hagi ware can be traced back to the influx of Korean potters in the 16th century. The color of Hagiyaki Pottery changes over time with use, as tea residuals enter the minuscule openings on its surface. This characteristic is highly appreciated by tea and Ikebana enthusiasts.
